Amit Kumar Pandey, Ph.D. is the President, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Science Officer (CSO) at Hanson Robotics Limited, creator of the most human-like expressive robots. Before joining Hanson, Amit served as the Head Principal Scientist (Chief Scientist) at SoftBank Robotics Europe in Paris, France.

Amit brings his integral background in AI, robotics, and social interaction to accelerate the development of the Hanson AI platform powering the intelligence and interactive personalities of the company’s robots and virtual AI characters. He also leads the development of commercial AI and robot solutions for media, research, service, and home applications.

His research interest falls at the intersections of People, Society and Robotics & AI, aims to achieve social innovation through scientifically grounded new technologies. Among other recognitions, his PhD work in Robotics and AI from LAAS-CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Research), INSA (National Institutes of Applied Sciences), France, was among the best three PhD theses in Europe for the prestigious Georges Giralt Award. Also He has been instrumental in bringing IEEE Ro-Man 2019 (theme “Responsible Robotics and AI for the Real World”) for the first time in Indian subcontinent, as well as served as its General Chair.
